Rear bumper, body panels, engine damage, structural, title, unknowns... So hard to see or know what the actual damage consists of in those pics.Wouldn't you need to see the Porsche "convertible" in the flesh to scrutinize damage, or hire someone to perform due diligence?

You are absolutely right. It looks like the engine support may be pushed in a bit and of course need a bumper cover. I might go take a look at it just to see. I do have a lot of contacts in the body repair world so I could get it done cheap.
We'll see.

It can be amazing how much unseen damage can occur with seemingly mild damage on the exterior.

IMHO, too much to make their asking price worthwhile especially with all of the unknowns mentioned above.

Unknown.

To me the pics are not very good and I can't really see the extent of the damage.

If you want a reliable number the car must be taken to a qualified repair shop and the extent of the damage determined.

The requires partial teardown (removal of the bumper covers, wheels) and the car placed on a Celette Bench and the positions of all critical (and they're all critical) hardpoints determined.

Which hardpoints are found out of position, how many, where they are, how far out of position, helps the experienced/qualified body shop expert make an accurate estimate of the car's damage.

Budget for factory parts. While one might find a second hand headlight, taillight, spoiler, engine cover, trunk cover, bumper cover, or something similar almost always the part is in worse shape than the part it is replacing. The only way to get a good replacement part is to buy one from the factory.

Budget to have any mechanical systems: brakes, coolant, etc.; attended to by a qualified Porsche tech at a dealer.

Sincerely,

Macster.

Its being sold by a salvage dealer. Since I'm sure the car was declared a total loss by an insurance company, that means the cost of repair is as much or more than the value of the car before it was crashed.

I would never touch it. Even when its fixed (and repaired cars are never as good as a car thats never been crashed), the value is going to be much less than book.

REBUILT/REBUILDABLESALVAGE
This Vehicle's Glossary
Below are the specific definitions for events that appear in this vehicle's report.
More information is available in the full AutoCheck glossary.

Term Section Location Definition
Rebuilt/Rebuildable Title and ProblemCheck The vehicle was a salvaged vehicle that was refurbished with new or used parts. An affidavit of repair from the rebuilder or individual making the repairs, stating what repairs were made to the vehicle and that the vehicle is now rebuilt and road operable, may be required to obtain a rebuilt/rebuildable title. These vehicles must also pass a state safety inspection before being allowed back on the road.
Salvage Title and ProblemCheck A salvage vehicle is a vehicle that has been wrecked or damaged beyond repair; declared a total loss by the insurer; or declared a total loss by reason of theft. When an insurance company as a result of a total loss settlement acquires a vehicle, the insurance company must apply for a Salvage Certificate. If the owner retains possession of a salvage vehicle, the owner must obtain a Salvage Certificate before receiving a total loss statement from the insurance company.
Loan/Lien Vehicle Use and EventCheck A loan/lien is the legal right to take and hold or sell the vehicle of a debtor as security or payment for a debt. Normally, a vehicle will have a lien due to a loan or unpaid repair bill against the vehicle. Check with the seller to ensure that the lien has been satisfied.
Emission/Safety Inspection Vehicle Use and EventCheck An approved emission testing station has inspected the vehicle to measure the amount of pollutants the vehicle emits into the environment.
Accident or Vehicle Damage Vehicle Use and EventCheck Reported accidents or damage events are a result of vehicle collisions or other non-collision incidents such as vandalism or theft. Not all accidents or damage events are reported to AutoCheck. Certain accident or damage events are reported by the source to have resulted in minor, moderate or severe damage to the vehicle, or the events are calculated by AutoCheck to have resulted in minor, moderate or severe damage based on the information reported. It is recommended to have pre-owned vehicles inspected by a third party prior to purchase.

One obvious warning sign is that it was hit hard enough to make the Rollover Bars extend... and they didnt manually retract them before pulling the top back over them, so no telling what damage has been done by forcing the top back over the bars?

It won't worth the asking price even it's been fixed perfectly with a rebuild title.
The car worth more to part it out
