Attended the local launch last Thursday. Nice looking car. Sad to see all the electronic driver's aids that pretty much take the driver out of the competitive equation, but that's how all manufacturers are going.

What blew me away was the fact that it is one hour of labor to access the back of the engine for simple things like changing the air filters. Engine shroud, spoiler, tail lights, and bumper all have to come off. I'd assume it's another hour of labor to put it all back together.

I went to the dealer today to pick up a part and there was a 991 sitting next to my car when I came back out. I have to say, it is decidedly my favorite 911 shape since the 993. It really is a spectacularly well proportioned and balanced design. I really love that car! I can't believe that it came with 20s from the factory. I can remember when 16s were all the rage! Oh well, 24 years of Porsche ownership and the factory keeps surprising me...

I saw my first one one on Federal Highway in Delray Beach, Florida the other day. It looked quite nice to me!

that open sunroof is fugly!!!

I saw several 991s at the Rolex 24Hrs. of Daytona race and while I liked the car, it certainly didn’t wow me. For some reason the rear of the car appears off to me but I do think it has retained the unmistakable 911 look.

Saw them at the dealer. To me, they just look big. Like M3 big.

They look like a slightly smaller version of the Panamera -not a fan. As for Beckham's car, that is plain fugly. Ignoring the differences in monetary value, I'd take my 996 over those two any day.

They got one on the floor at the Calgary Porsche dealership (available for immediate purchase at around $135K, too, at less than the price on a 2012 Carrera 4S Cab 997 for $145K), so I went in yesterday morning to take a look as I had to pick up some parts for a weekend project.

My overall observation is that it is a very nice car for sure, and yes, I do want one. However, there are a few things I didn't like. Firstly, it is waaaay too plush - it has definitely transitioned into an old man car - I think they are recognizing that a large part of their market that can actually afford these cars is is older, wealthier males. The seats are definitely very comfortable, however.

Secondly, while the 911 shape is still there, the "curvy hips" are gone - it's wider straight back - or, in other parlance, the car has gone from being stacked/BBW to being "big boned".

Thirdly, the "center console" or whatever it it is called is now massive - it looks like it's right out of a Panamera.

Bottom line, at this exact point, my dream 911 remains a 997 - a 2009 (or newer) C4S in Orient Red, to be precise...

Yep, still looks nice to me...although under the circumstances I'd still rather have my 996.

Looks like he went straight to doing a fan hack.

I'll withold judgement until I see the "sporty" models but I too think Prosche should keep the 911 focused on performance rather than luxury. You can buy a Mercedes or Audi if you want to cruise around at full bloat. I want my 911 to deliver thrills. It's OK with me if the compromis is a little less comfort.

I thought the Panamera would allow Porsche to keep the 911 "sporty" but given the fact the Porsche has 17-21 different variants of the 911 out at any point in time I think we'll still see some enthusiast-focused models out there.
