How do I reset the security lock on a'99 Carrera. Windows, moon roof, AC not working. Someone recommended I try the 996 forum, no replies on 911 or general forums.
Thank you,
Rich
The may be too easy but if the car has been idle for a week or more, you have to reinitialize the system. Use the key to manually unlock the driver's door. Then lock it manually. Then press the button on the key fob. It should work.
After unlock, loc, and push key button, it beeped twice, but things still don't work. What if I disconnect the battery. Will that reset it?
Thanks,
Rich
You can try to disconnect your battery for 5-10 minutes.
If that doesn't work, you'll probably need a Durametric, PST2, or PIWIS to further troubleshoot.
Still though, to me it sounds like you might have a few things going on.
1.) Your alarm system thinks some of the contacts are open when you try to arm it, which explains the horns sounding.
2.) "Windows, moon roof, AC not working" may or may not have anything to do with the alarm/immobilizer and could be due to low battery or perhaps a faulty ignition switch.
Manual is online. I think its on rennlist. The little glove box in the center console, trunk, engine lid and doors have to be latched to stay away from getting the beeps.

This might sound odd but when the ign switch starts to fail strange electrical gremlins start to appear. The key is sometimes hard to turn/extract, accessories come on randomly or won't work...etc.
