Ebay sellers are a bit nuts.

When I was shopping for mine I saw the same thing.

Then the one I found was on Craigslist and actually recommended to me by someone here on RL who knew I was looking for one.

The best seller is a desperate seller who's wife is nagging them to get rid of the big "thing" taking up space in the garage. If you go to one of those wholesalers who sell parts for a living you'll pay more.

For example I called a popular used parts supplier here in North Carolina for a quote when I was on my way to pick mine up in Raleigh - and guess what they wanted? They quoted me $800 for a top WITHOUT a headliner and trim pieces. So I knew I would continue to my destination to pick up the one I had decided to purchase.

I have seen some very OPTIMISTIC sellers out there (ebay, CL, salvage yards) who reference the MSRP to make their $2000 asking price look like a real bargain. Several months later, almost all of them are still languishing in the For Sale ads.

$250-$400 -- open market; good condition.

$1500 - a guy in a rain storm when his convertible top won't go up.
