Default Engine Compartment Hood Won't Open

When I press the button to open the engine compartment hood I hear two quick sounds instead of the single normal sound and the rear hood stays locked down. Thoughts?

Try having somebody push the lid down while pushing the button. Or search emergency release. It should be in the manual if you have to go there. Or maybe the spring that picks the lid up so that it stays unlocked is faulty making it so that the lid needs to be lifted while the button is pressed. There are other thrads on how to emergency release. It's under the light fixture.

The engine emergency hood release cable is under the left taillight between the light assy and the bumper cover. I was able to use a rubber kitchen spatula to gently wedge the gap open enough, ~1/8", to fish the cable out with a thin wire hook. YMMV

UPDATE: Thanks Pac996...Simple fix. The shocks on the lid struts were shot so there was not enough spring tension to release the lid when the button was pressed. I lifted the lid while someone pressed the button and voila! A little silicon spray on the latch and it works ok, but need to replace the shocks soon.
