I had to share this.

I grew up sitting on the sidelines of these races and still get goosebumps watching footage like this. Amazing driving - man and car against road - none of this aseptic track stuff - pure aggressive driving. Heaven!

Most of that footage appears to be Germany, but it is racing in it's purest form... I remember freezing my *** off to watch winter morning forest stages.... frost bite, all for the joy of seeing headlights and a fraction of a second of noise and wind as the cars screamed by only inches away. It was all worth it. To me rally is still the best form of racing, even today I am unexcited by seeing Porsches on a track.

I've seen that video before, but it's definitely worth watching again (and again).

Wellardmac, thanks for the link. That was 8:45 well spent though my boss might disagree. I love the article's intro sentence, "....the ***-engined slot cars of fascist origins ..."
