Store this link for next time someone picks on your 911, or starts their doomsday comments on RMS, IMS, fear of the day.

I'm still happy with my extremely reliable 996 and in no hurry to trade it... best car I ever bought.

Yup, even the most rational people have paranoia occasionally.
We do have really great cars that have unparalleled reliability. The sad thing is that the internet amplifies the negatives way out of proportion.

I'd go along with that.
My wife's '99 Boxster that's been with us since '02 has had fewer issues than her '06 Lexus. In fairness the Boxster doesn't get driven a lot, but than can work both ways.

I'm not sure that conclusion can be reached from the data without seeing the repair history. It could also be that Porsche owners are the most fanatic at maintaining their cars and keeping things in order.

Not a fair study. Porsche owners are compelled to drive their vehicles more often and longer distances over a shorter time-frame than any other make, except for the garage queens. This gives the Porsche a unfair advantage of time to miles.

I've seen the TUV study before on this - when the 996 also came out on top. This seems consistent with those prior studies.
While certainly not as reliable as my prior car, a Lexus, for a high-performance sports car I don't think there is anything that is in the same league.

The results of the TUV report are a bit misleading, though certainly speak volumes about the quality of Porsche vehicles in general. It chronicles the results of a single point inspection and is not a review of maintenance over time. Problems such as a IMS failure or a serious RMS leak would usually not show up in this data as owners would most likely have those problems repaired prior to presenting their vehicles for inspection.
I remember a friend's BMW 3.0 CS coupe going through TUV... the inspector got down in the pit and looked for rust by violently jabbing a huge screwdriver at likely weak spots in the pan. He found some.
