My 3.4 Motor FS. What's It Worth?
I have a opportunity to pickup a custom built 3.6 from my engine builder for a reasonable cost. They guy he built it for disappeared and he needs to move the motor. We're going to put 3.4 heads/cams on it so it should only give me a little more uumph, maybe 20rwhp, and I can stay in class.
So..., my 3.4 was new from him slightly over a year ago. It has 30-35 hours on it which equates to less than 3,000 miles. Built completely stock with all EOM components just nicely balanced. It runs flawlessly and dyno'd as high as 270 rwhp. It's tight and uses no oil between changes which are after everyother event. It's only seen Amsoil 15/50 Dominator racing oil.
AOS, coil packs, plugs were all new when built, IMS was Porsche's latest upgrade at the time. If someone wanted to install Jake's/L&N's IMS bearing that could be easily accomplished. Dual mass flywheel and 3.6 manifolds are included.
Let me know what you guys think it's worth and if anyone's interested. Otherwise Evil Bay it is...

Sounds like a great replacement engine option for someone.
I would offer you as much as $8k if I needed it.
And you plan to bolt your 3.4L heads onto your new 3.6L block?

Based on the fear and facts on this forum, your motor should move quickly for a replacement or backup motor. If you've followed recent posts our 3.4 motors have gotten expensive to replace by Porsche, although other alternatives are popping up.GLWS

I paid $6,200 for a nice low miles factory reman 3.4 (although the seller didn't know it was a reman). You should be able to get $7,500 - $8,000 for your engine with documented mileage and maintenance. Especially if you can supply DME rev limiter data to the prospective buyer.
