To my designer's eye, I cannot understand the fascination with black, multispoke wheels.

1) They always look dirty.
2) They are invisible, creating just big black discs.
3) The body of the car floats on blackness, and looks too vertical....NOT sleek!

In Montreal, many of use remove our Mags in winter and drive on black, dirty, rusty steel rims. Our winter cars look really, really lousy.

Why would anyone replicate this 'look'.

Black wheels might look macho, tough and malicious, in a stereotypical way, but a silver wheel is MUCH more harmonious with the 911 bodywork.
Bit off the time-line... OK, your words were thoughtful, but you got me with that picture. Just ordered a set of Zehns today

I still haven't purchased my wheels, but I think I'm about to. I got distracted (bought a boat that needed a lot of work).

Since this post, any more thoughts on these wheels? Are black more accepted? More in style?

Are VE tested? Are they good wheels over the long term?

Any new thoughts on the Innsbruck wheels at all???

Don't know about "in style" but I have a set of black hollow spokes and another of silver. I like them both. If I were you id skip the aftermarket wheel unless you buy an HRE, Volk, BBS or Champion. Also I really like the lightweight 5 spokes that you currently have. Maybe find another set of those and refinish in gloss or satin black instead. Add spacers too.

Styling aside as that's highly personal, I've always maintained that Innsbruck, OZ, and Enkei NT03 are some of the cheapest non-forged wheel options you can get for the weight savings. It's up to you to determine if the wheel finish and style is something you like or not. FYI, I had black wheels back in '99 so it seems to have some good staying power. lol

I got these this summer, in black. Love them. Often mistaken for HREs. They are very light, compared to my stock solid spokes.

I just installed a set of Innsbrooks (black, of course!) on my car...I do love them but I must say that the black finish is extremely delicate.......make sure you take that into consideration when you make your decision.....in other words the finish really scratches very easily. GL

That's a good point. I still like the Innsbruck but I'm going back and fourth on black or silver.

Ugh.

While I like both I would choose "traditional" silver.

I went back and forth on black v. silver too but I was worried about scratching the black.
