They are definately not OE 996 wheels. I think the Boxster/Cayman OE is a good guess.
That car is sporting non original wheels with some of the cheapest tires available. (Not that they are bad tires, I have them on my 996).
Just make sure they aren't trying to "put lipstick on a pig".

996 purchase update
all,
so i was about to pass on the 996 i was discussing in a previous post and also shown in the craigslist ad i posted regarding the wheels. i actually really like the way the car sits/looks with those wheels. i prefer those wheels over the 997 lobster claws as they have a smaller center face.
after investigating this morning i learned that in fact the clutch was replaced as well as the flywheel by gerber motorsports here in seattle. the dealership was able to locate the lost records for the car in the owners manual folder that was stored in the warehouse.
upon further investigation i located the shop that did a PPI on the car nov 8th. i had a long talk w/the service tech and he was kind enough to relay the importnant information. basically what killed the deal was a check engine light which was a vacuum line that needed replacing and required removing the engine. the dealership repaired the problem $1500 receipt arond nov 13th.
the clutch chatter is most likely a burnt flywheel which will have to be addressed. if i purchase the car i will have to do the IMS (receipt for RMS is in the records done 10K ago along w/the clutch)and will do the flywheel at the same time.
all of this will only happen if the dealer accepts my hammered down offer. i doubt it will fly but i'm headed down there soon to lowball him. since we have rain in the forecast for the next 10 days i may have the upper hand.
i'll keep you posted.

Good luck with that, cost wise it will be hard to find a cheaper deal. The main issue with any 996 3.4 engine is cylinder wear. I recommend a compression test & camshaft deviation test prior to purchase.
