Question Brake rotor recommendation, anyone have one?

Hey everyone,

My 2001 Carrera 4 will be needing new rotors and pads all around soon. I've been looking up old posts and from my research, I see that the Hawk low dust pads seem to make a lot of people happy. I will most likely be buying these.

My question is regarding rotors... I was thinking of just getting a set of OEM Porsche rotors from Sonnen Porsche or Suncoast (approx $150 ea) but was wondering if there was a better rotor out there (high performance, lighter, etc...) for within the same price range... I don't mind paying a little more, but I don't want to break the bank either.

Thanks

The choices available are vast. How do you plan on using your car, street only, de, will depend greatly on the recomendations you will receive here.

I had done some research and most people agree that the OEM disc are fairly priced. You might want to upgrade to pricier disc if you track the car and want something with cooling properties like floating disc or slotted disc instead of drilled. If you track the car midly the oem seem to do the job pretty good as well, especially considering the price.

Also try AutohousAZ, recently bought front Zimmermans there and couldn't be happier with the quality and price.

Alcon or Girodisc if you feel like spending $$$ otherwise I agree with the above comments. I'm using OEM from Suncoast... Just replaced pads today and they were 20% off.

What should I expect to pay for Girodisc or Alcon's?

Go to LC Motorsports website. Merlinmfgusa.com They are a sponsor here. $1067 each for Alcon slotted. They have sebro slotted as well for $300. My bad no giro disc for your model only GT3.

+1 LC Motorsports. Chris provided good service and feedback when I purchased Sebro rotors for my car.

considering the price of the OEM, I think stick to it, unless you think you are too fast for your discs

Give me a call and we can hook you up with Sebro OEM drilled or Slotted (the advantage to Sebro vs. Zimmerman is the Sebro's are rust protected with the Gray Paint where the Zimmerman's have a Clear Z-Coat {great product, just its not gray} Also, Sebro is the current OEM source for these parts.

As for the Alcon's... We are having a Halloween Special... give me a call tomorrow.

Happy Halloween
