Default Can you say Fender Crunch?!?!

My cleaning crew was backing out of the driveway and gave me a custom fender. Photos show damage and relation of my vehicle to my house.

I have a great shop (Stoddard Porsche) for the repairs. Biggest concern is loss of value being that the car had to accidents.

I am waiting for her insurance to call me.

Thoughts? Advice?

I love my car, but at the end of the day, it is just a car. Have had many. Will have many more.

Poor girl was crying and terrified of what my reaction might be.

Getting mad was not going to fix the car.

Just glad that it was not a person.

Kudos to you. We're human after all.

WOW, what is with this spate of accidents, I think this is the third one on Rennlist this week. Looks like a simple fender replacement (please no dent puller and bondo!) but like you said any accident is a bad thing.

Well things come in 3's. You did the right thing...what would angry yelling cure? We have insurance and that is what is for. You handled it great!

Dent pulling?????!?!??!?

I thought you just fill in the dent until the surface is smooth. Then just paint.

Only problem is that this leads to a 50 lbs front fender!!!

Actually thinking of not getting this fender fixed. I hear that this "design" is more aerodynamic!!

Your attitude on this is amazing - thanks for posting this, I'm not sure I would have been so magnanimous. I wouldn't have taken it out on the girl, but I would definitely have been hopping mad!

I actually have been laughing about it.

Just a personal decision. As a human, I have a limited amount of time and energy. Better focused on my family and business. At least Obama has not YET found a way to tax me as my family becomes more successful!!

awe - good attitude

spend your time making the money to get it fixed and dont sweat it - looks a little worse than my wife's car, but she has one on every panel....for her its no big deal as long as it gets her to work, so I dont worry too much any more....

glad your doing well....Obama is trying to figure a way to get you to pay for someone else poor decisions, dont worry he is working 24/7!!! Funny how many liberals are complaining about our health care (open enrollment time) - I just smile and say - HEY Obama passed the health care act, isnt this all free now???

So true. Could not agree more. Glad to know I'm not totally nuts for thinking the the way that I do.

Get a new fender, have it painted along with the bumper and be done with it. It doesn't look like there would be a ton of other damage aside from perhaps the headlight mounting. You are fortunate B/C that area is actually pretty hollow by design.

One P-car paint shop owner I spoke on a similar ding with my car called this area "toyota metal", and it is meant to crush but not damage frame or other parts.

Whoever paints the new fender will need to blend across the front hood and the front 1/3 of the left door. If they don't you will see a color difference--one of the problems with metallic paint. If they don't discuss that with you go to another shop. Since the front bumper will have to be resprayed you will have to find out how far they will do the blend. There are many excellent paint shops out there today, so it can be easily returned to perfection again!
