I continually struggle with the question of whether my car is locked or not. I might just try this and would consider putting a switch in line so I can turn the functionality on and off.

In my previous cars I could always hear the locking mechanism activate so I could tell without looking back whether it locked.
On the 996, I can't hear it at all so the horn honk is actually working out in my favour, its staying this way (at least for now).

SmartTop? What is that? Paulicat, i have an 01 cab too and going to put an AVH- . What did you find out?

If you don't tape it up you run the risk of the alarm randomly going off. Mine did that constantly until I taped up the wire.
