My Traqmate install

I have been working on installing a traqmate and chasecam combo that I purchased used on the forum. It is a bit of an older system but simple to use and does the work.
I wanted to have a stealth install to avoid putting it in and out. Not that I go to the track each weekend but I just like things to be neat![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Ok so I did first remove the passenger seat and tried to place both traqmate and chasecam under there but the floor is not very flat so I bough a small piece of plexiglass at homedepot and installed both boxes on top of it, taking my time and doing most of the connection. The plexiglass system secured on the floor with some velcro.
For cables, I used the negative that plug to the chassis right there under the seat, for the positive I lined up a cable under the center console up to the rear of the radio. You can find in there an loose plug, made for the telephone oem install. So I taped in the switched wire in there.
The other wire going out is for the antenna. I placed the antenna where the oem gps antenna for PCM is. I don't have the PCM so I had an empty spot instead. It is on top of the dash, right by the blinking alarm led. I ran the wire at the bottom of the windshield, totally hidden, and then into the side air dam. A bit of the cable stick out from the windshield to the air dam but I think I'll live
I could have run the cable straight down but I would have had to remove the radio and AC controls ... may be later. Nice tutorial to do this on renntech here
.
Voila that's it. My OCD made this simple 5 minute install a 3 day project but I had fun with it. As you can see in the last picture, the chasecam LCD screen and control can be accessed through the seat bottom hole. Normally it is used to pass the bottom seat belts for harness, but I don't plan on installing a harness on the passenger seat. Also I can insert/remove the compact flash from the chasecam by sliding the seat all the way back and put my hand under it. it is tight but not too bad.
Last piece I have not done yet
1/ running a cable to the OBD plug, pin #9, to tap into the RPM sensor so that RPM and gear change are tracked on the traqmate.
2/ installing the traqmate reading unit somewhere a little nicer. for now it is velcro to the passenger seat, I'll read my time on the straights... not super safe, we'll see if I chicken out doing that

The seats are just ridiculous !
They are a pain to get in and out of the car, but the 30 seconds waste of time is 1000x worth it when you are driving.
This is the besssst mod ever. You feel the car so much more, even in the city it triple the driving fun. I could not believe it myself. I was expecting the tighter but to bring something but I am most impressed by the nice shoulder wrapping, just the right amount... you guessed... I love them![Big Grin](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
I can't wait to install my pss9 and see how much better it can get... if that is ever possible

I have been getting in this type of seat daily for over 3 years and seriously still dont care for it, but once in ...no substitute! My old GT3 euro's were awesome but they tended to get a little soft in the seat on hot days. (they were MAX Speed CF knock offs, not factory) The new ones are Sparco Evo and they are fabric (not my first choice) but I love them still....
so since you have the mod bug, gonna tempt you with another one..... smaller steering wheel - its unreal and makes the car feel like a go-kart plus with the wide GT3 euro uppers you will find your shoulders pushed towards your chest...a smaller wheel makes excellent compliment to this.....
you wont think its a big deal when you look at them, but try one....its simply indescribable and a one way change, you'll never go back to the big one
HOT RIDE MAN... I am jealous!

I am just afraid to mess up with the airbag removal, but may be the durametric will allow me to disable the airbag warning..

I am using 350mm
I have seen a few 996's with MOMO's and other wheels, so there has to be a way - you can find nice Momo for under $300

Phil, Yes Homestead. Im driving next weekend with FARA and ERME. The last Hooked on driving I registered for was cancelled due to not enough participants so I stopped driving with them. ERME has a 2 for 1 deal next Saturday. Entrants split the $250 fee. FARA is giving 2 hrs track time from 8-1 on Sunday in between their practice and sprint race. registration is through track weekend and is open to intermediates and advanced only. 30 cars only. Let me know if your interested in either or shoot me a PM and Ill give you more details.

Phil,
Great looking install. I wish I were that creative and handy. Now, take it from someone who's been there. Stop the mods, and buy a track car, trailer, and tow vehicle. You're doomed.
