Default Camber off

Hey guys I noticed something over the weekend when I parked the 911 in the mall besides the brand new white Audi S5 convertible park next to me.

I was getting out admiring the rear stance on the 996, when all of a sudden I see the left wheel is pushed in and tilted up a few centimeters enough to notice it. The right wheel is perfectly fine and flush with the body wheel arches. Maybe this is why I seem to be getting worse gas mileage than before
Could this be the camber or toe in & toe out? What are the factory specs on a 996? What would cause this?

I think back in June sometime at Kauffman tire I know foolish of me to got there when I bought some new rear tires they did the alignment on it. I bet their machines are not sophisticated enough to do the job properly. I was told you need a special machine to do a proper alignment with driver weight included is this correct? What is the correct procedure on this?

Do you or anyone else have the alignment specs on the 996 so I can check to see if the car is dialed in right?

there has to be a good alignment guy in your area...you dont need to provide him/her with specs, they have them...and nothing wrong with brand X tire shop...in my area the Discoount tire gets tons of exotics, lambo's - ferrari's - ect and people swear by them ???

my car goes to the alignment ****...be good or "No alignment for you"
(not 100% true, but funny)

I get my alignment done at a race shop. $200+ vs $70 at local discount tire store. Cheap machines cannot set toe specs correctly. There is a difference.

I got you Ed. Having a competent tech do the alignment is worth the money. Although, they can be difficult as well as pompous and arrogant at times.

One last thing do you guys know how the mystery got it started in the first place? Could it be a big bump I ran over or something loose that needs to be tighten? What causes toe to be altered from just daily driving?

hitting something...all bets are off

Amen to that! When I was in college, I had Town Fair Tire do an alignment on my car after I bought a new set of tires. I pulled out of their parking lot and my brand new tires squealed down the road like I was constantly peeling out. I turned right around and had them fix it. The alignment was completely wrong.

An idiot can screw up even the simplest of tasks. Add a little skill to the job and they can screw it up even worse.

Update, I talked to the Indy today they think more than likely it is a camber issue instead of toe. Toe is when the wheels turn in. This shouldn't happen on its own like you guys said. According to the mechanic he said an adjustment could have been loosened maybe.

Toe gets knocked off easily. Your tires are more susceptible to get knocked out of alignment the wider your tire is.
