Them's the breaks... doesn't matter if she was really speeding or not. Doesn't matter if it's fair or not. It's a revenue stream for towns. Understand that it's just a monetary transaction and not a personal attack on your wife's driving.
This has worked for my wife twice. The city wants their $, which is fine. She did not deny speeding (we believe in telling the truth), but asked for a non-moving violation and to pay the same fine to the city. City gets their revenue and insurance rates don't go up. The only one getting the shaft is the insurance company.

Hey Wellardmac

Don't worry the 996 is no longer considered a high end car

My $0.02 worth just pay the lawyer, I know it sucks, it'll all soon be over.
My insurance company forgives the first speeding infraction if <10 mph.
Also best bet is to buy insurance through a broker, always a good sounding board when discussing your latest infraction

Hope to see you at coffee soon.

I was actually thinking more of my M3.

As for coffee - it has just been a busy summer. My family is soaking up my time while the weather is good. I'll try and make it again soon.

I know that we should be able to get it reduced to <10mph and it will not impact the current insurance. My hope is to reduce it to a non-moving violation so that we don't get dinged when we change insurance companies.

Well, the update is that Wake County does not offer non-moving violations, so we'll have to go with the plea for <9mph.

This is just not a big deal. If your record is clean they will write it down and you will pay court costs. No insurance notification.

Deep breaths.
