Default Super lucky with Dunlop snow tires

My 255/40/17 rears are down to 6/32" so I was looking at Tire Rack for new ones. But tire manufactures are not making the 255 series anymore.....

So a quick ebay search found these and only these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_W0QQ...ht_3614wt_1165

Wow, brand new never mounted for $120 each shipped. And they only had 2 left. They may be a couple of years old, but that's okay for the limited winter driving I will be doing (maybe 3k miles at most). The snow gods were shinning down yesterday.

You should be happy with those. I had a set of Dunlops on my Audi TT and they were just great in the snow.

Score. I wish I still had them to sell....

REALLY wish......

FYI, 245/45 will still fit the factory 9" wheel. It's a touch short and not ideal, but works.

I had Dunlop Wintersports on my TT as well. They were phenomenal in the snow and cold.

I am in the same situation with mine and found Michelin - Pilot Sport AS Plus as well as Michelin - Pilot Sport PS2 (what I have now) My question is on the newer AS Plus - which are $208 vs the PS2's $254, will I notice the difference in my daily driver 1999 996?

I had the MPS AS+ on my 996 C2 for 21k+ miles, and 5 track days...they were great in the winter (didn't drive in heavy snow, but they were fine in light snow/slush)...awesome in the rain, and stuck really well in all seasons. they held up great for 4 track days, but the 5th (@21K miles) finally did them in. They actually performed well on the track, but eventually the higher speed and cornering did them in. Up until the last track day, they looked great, but the last one caused some chunking. They were also pretty quiet up until the end, and I would recommend them, and use them again.
