Default Reasonable Cost for RMS + IMS fix ?

Looking for general ballpark here for cost associated with doing both at the same time. Seems the consensus is 1500 for RMS alone. What should I expect to pay additionally for IMS fix- including parts / labor?

Thanks for any advice in advance.

Budget $1200.00 - $1400.00 for labor and add your parts. The labor will cover remove and reinstall transmission, clutch assembly, flywheel, LN IMS Bearing and AOS. I believe the LN IMS Bearing is ball park $550.00 and the AOS ball park $125.00, clutch kit ball park $550.00 to $650.00. Clutch and flywhell need to be removed to perform RMS and IMS. So your call to reinstall existing or new. This should get you close.

Thanks, Silotwo. So about 2100 in addition to the RMS 1500?

if you are doing the clutch, ims, rms your probably looking at 2500 to 3000. try finding an indie who would do the work with parts you supply and it'll end up a bit cheaper.

Flat 6 offers a package deal for IMS + RMS + clutch replacement for a C2 manual -- $3500 including all parts and labor -- which confirms Silotwo's estimate.

I would add a new water pump to the list as well. I would also consider new chain tensioners. The IMS ... not so much.

The water pump is on the opposite side of the motor and would save you nothing on labor by taking the trans out/clutch/flywheel out.

Yeah, I don't get the water pump either. What's the rationale? Like deciding to get to get a tooth pulled while you are in for a vasectomy. I guess you could. But why would you?

Thanks, guys. Found an indy place around me that's done 8 of these the last two years. Charge is 1800 total for IMS and RMS. Additional 800 for new clutch. Should I have them do the clutch as well? Car has 26K miles. No clutch problems noted at PPI.

Thanks

Go and buy a OEM clutch kit from sunset for $504 and have it put in. Don't let them over charge you for the part. It won't be extra to put the clutch in anyways. What year is your car? usually the dual row bearings are about $620ish and the single ones are $520. RMS is a $15 part. Ask if you can just bring in the part and just pay for labor.

Do you like how your current clutch engages? If so, I would leave it in--assuming your mechanic says there is plenty of material left. If the engagement is less than great I would take the opportunity to correct it. New clutches always feel different to me--sometimes better, sometimes not.

I paid $2,100 for RMS, IMS and Clutch last year at European Road and Racing in Charleston, SC. They are awesome.

You guys get cheap parts, cheap and good labour. If i wanted to do the same amount of work on my car in SG, it would cost me maybe 2 times more ...
