Default New clutch/flywheel is great but I want the worn clutch firmness!

So I picked up the car today after getting a new clutch, flywheel, IMSR, and RMS.

Man the new clutch feels extremely smooth. Car drives great.

Only problem is the clutch just feels so different now. Just seems way to easy. I am guessing I just got used to the car with a clutch that was on its way out since that is how it was when I bought it. I kinda liked the firmer feel to it. The guys at the shop said it feels just how a factory 996 clutch should feel.

Now I understand those clutch helper spring threads!

My question is, is removing the helper spring a bad idea? I've read that the pedal doesn't fully return and that would mean the clutch doesn't engage 100%. I don't want to introduce wear on the clutch.

I removed my clutch helper spring and replaced it with a much lighter spring. Much better now. This will have no effect on clutch wear, as it functions to aid clutch pedal motion only.

End of story! I would drive it as-is for a while, and you will get used to the new clutch feel. Why mess with the helper spring right away?

I wish my clutch felt extremely smooth!

The same thing happened to me!
My clutch was on the way out and my pressure plate was rubbing, which yielded an extremely firm and consistent take-up point. I loved it. After getting my car back with new clutch, IMS, RMS, AOS etc, the clutch felt so light! Like I was driving a Honda or BMW. Though after 1,000 miles or so, I got used to it and it now feels heavy to me. Can't imagine what it would be like to have the old one back!
