Default Coolant tank picture - not leaking after 143k miles

Well, it's not from a Porsche. Too bad they don't last as long as this one! It's the original coolant tank from my 1987 Wrangler.

yeah, but the germans should figure out something by now...944 turbo coolant tanks have the SAME problem. Newer cars of all makes have pressurized tanks with minimal failures. My Porsche tank in my 944 Turbo and my 996 have held up, but they sure have discolored. If they're strong, just make them black so they atleast don't look old.

can't see the level in a faded, yellowed, brittle german one either, which makes one take off the three time updated coolant tank cap, view the level, then shake the cap and listen for a rattle before reinstalling the latest cap but putting it on slightly crooked causing a small leak leading one to believe their yellow, brittle coolant tank has failed which leads one to stare at said tank until they see the decal located above the tank noting to not install the cap crooked. Then remove the cap, reinstall correctly, thereby fixing the leak while still having the same old yellow, faded coolant tank.

Just an opinion.....this may or may not be true in all cases.

Things must break in order to make money, I'm pretty sure the engineers @ Porsche probably suggested to use the better materials to manufacture all these different component parts but the business side of peeps probably went against them.

Think about it, if **** last forever, they won't be making money off by selling the replacement parts.
