LED Tailights - Tempting Price
I have been thinking of doing the LED taillights on my car for a while, but it is amazing the price variation you see on these, particularly when they all seem to come from the same manufacturer. A couple of years ago Amazon had them for $214, but not for long, and now you see them for $500+ on the high end. Here is a source for $339 shipped, which is the lowest I have found in quite some time.

Been thinking about doing that too. From what I've read, it seems that one wire, possibly for the corner(?) light, shouldn't be connected or it will blow a fuse. No one has been able to tell me why. It should be a direct replacement, no? I know that you're very clever, so if you install them please let us know how to resolve that issue, or at least why it happens.
My other dilemma, is Clear/Red or Smoked/Red.

1. They need to be sealed or water will get inside - I used Permatex Flowable Silicone Windshield and Glass Sealer ($5 on Amazon) Needs to be applied around the entire light between the lens and back plastic piece.
2. Inside the light, the connections for the small light (side marker) and the tail light are connected together. Therefore, you have to be careful when connecting the wire for the small light maintain the proper polarity or it will short out and blow a fuse. (Or you can just not connect it at all).
For what its worth, I liked the smoke version best - still available on Amazon for about $350.
Good luck

From all I have read and seen all these LED lights for the 996 are the same. Probably all from the same factory. Can't prive this but if you look closely at the pics from the various vendors they all look exactly alike.
As for LED bulbs, the look will be quite different. With the OEM LED's and the aftermarket LED units the leds are spread out in a line/pattern. With just LED replacement bulbs it would just be circles of LEDs.
