Don't know what your problem is (good luck for a cheap and easy fix) but guys, what's e-gas?

Nice work Doug.

e-gas is a nickname for the type of throttle body (fly by wire) used in all 996's after 1999. Prior to 2000, the throttle's were cable operated (more better).

Funny though how they call if "fly by wire", when really it should be "fly without wire", or wait "fly by electronics". <sheesh>

We should all have an extra car around to swap parts with, wouldn't that be nice.

Just ordered a new throttle body with the new number 997.605.115.01. Did a little searching on the internet and by phone. Two wreckers wanted $150-$175 for a used one, and over $50 to ship it overnight. Lots of sources in the $233-$245 range but again the overnights shipping was pretty expensive, $40-$50 bucks. Pelican had it for $240 with only $21.89 overnight shipping. Then I found a source called KOperformance.com that had it for only $223.99 and was only $14.95 for overnight shipping, DONE DEAL! Ordered a couple of other things at what seemed to be great pricing to throw in the box at same shipping price.

I am on the traveling tomorrow but should be back on the road on Saturday

New throttle body is installed and the problem is gone.

Just a big thank you for posting the solution; I don't have this problem but was curious and love to learn stuff and now I did.
