Default Does This Look Safe? Wheel Spacer Fitment

I just installed 17 mm Porsche OEM wheel spacers on the rear of my 2000 996 C2 Cab. I like the look but want to make sure that this is safe and I am not going to cut my tires. My rims are 18x10" 65 offset with 265 tires.

The square in the second picture is positioned against the inner edge of the fender lip. I know that when the wheels are pushed upward on a bump they are going to pivot inwards to some degree, but I want to be safe.

Does this look safe to you?

What suspension are you running? It looks like the M032 US/Canada spec touring suspension.

I am running Victor Innsbruck wheels that are 11 inch wide in the back with a 55MM offset. It looks very agressive.

With the spacer, you are running a 48MM offset. It's pretty aggressive but it should be ok.

Compress the suspension with your body weight and have someone take a look at the clearance.

Yokohama Avid Invigor All Seasons on a 996? really? I had those tires on my 06 mazdaspeed6 and they were are great tire but I wouldn't put them on the 996.

I run 23mm spacers on OEM 10" 65et w 295 tires. Lowered to 119-120mm. Zero issues, but I do run -3.0 camber also.

I'm not a big fan of the tires either, but they were on the car when I bought it.

All tires aren't created equal along the line of numbers given for sizes. The current tires on the car appear to have an angled in sidewall either from design or width differences. I'm thinking you might run into even more tread being available to worry you about the tires hitting the wheel well lip with a different brand or size tire. I'm not even sure if they are stock rims soooo......make sure if you change tires to be sure you recheck your worrys in that area.

The wheel spacer is the Porsche OEM 17 mm adapter, so you use the lug bolts you have to attach the adapter to the rotor and then use lug nuts to attach the rim to the studs on the adapter. I torqued everything to 96 ft lbs.

So you think I am OK? Is that because of the vertical clearance between the tire and the fender? Any idea how much the struts compress? I tried using my body weight to compress the struts but can't budge them very much.

I don't mean to sound like a wuss, I just don't want to FU my tires or my car. I love this car!

to estimate wheel clearance, jack the car up at the rear jack point, put some wood blocks below the wheel, SLOWLY let the car down. it looks like it will clear fine.

Brilliant! Tried it. I'm good. Now for the front.

Looks great (and safe). Hard to great feel for the alignment of the wheel/tire with a camera though since just a few degrees of variation from where you stand can make a huge difference in the photo.

I run the 11"et63 on my CAB which is roughly 2mm less aggressive. You are fine. BTW, what did you do for the front?

I haven't done anything with the front yet. I wanted to see how the rears fit and looked and then decide what size spacer to get for the front. I'll be trying to make a decision today.

Sounds good. You'll definitely want to balance that out to reduce some of the understeer
