Engine failure
I got my engine replaced at Herb Chambers Porsche in Boston. GREAT service...The warranty company sucked big time but they helped me fight and win the case for a replacement. Once authorized, HC replaced it in DAYS.
My guess is even with CPO Porsche NA is demanding that the engine be torn down, inspected, they send an inspector over, etc and then authorize the replacement or repair.
The service manager and tech are great - but I have to say they're one of the busiest Porsche dealerships in the country - and if you can take the time to be their friend - they'll go the extra mile for you.
Porsche ownership is not as special / exclusive as it once was - so they deal with the general public a lot...

FYI, I had my engine replaced (high oil consumption/scored cylinders). I have a great dealer, but it still takes a while to ship something that large. Needed a special truck, then it showed up in the wrong type of truck (needed a lift truck rather than a loading-dock level truck) so it went round and round another few days. Just thrilled to get a replacement engine via a CPO, but it did take me a while. Good luck with yours!
Ok here's the final resolution to my problem. After six weeks, the car was finally repaired. The cam sensor failed and was contacting one of the cams, requiring a replacement cam. Everything else was fine. Car seems back to normal now. The unhelpful service manager at the dealership has been fired and a new person called me up begging for mercy and a pledge for further service visits. We'll see.
