Picked up 3 cases at Napa on rt 46 west in saddle brook just past Walmart. Asked the guy what he had left and he laughed. He has more than a pallet left, or about 950 quarts.

I will look for an expiration, never thought about that. Anyone else check?

Walmart carries 5 quart bottles of 5w-40 Truck Diesel Synthetic M1 oil. It is not the same as regular M1 Synthetic and is not Porsche approved.

I don't think anyone here is going to wait five years to get around to using their stored oil. Even for drivers who have garage queens I think yearly oil changes are still the norm.

Let my 9-year old son change the oil in our 4Runner today. He did everything himself, I was rather proud. I've had him do most of the work before, but always got it all set up and handed him the tool- this time, I said "Here's the oil and the filter, don't use my 0W40. You know where the tools are, I want you to do it all by yourself." Not surprisingly, he was a little hesitant and kept asking me if he was doing the right nut, and hadn't yet learned those hard-life-lessons about dripping oil or hot engines, but did a really good job and I only had to help him a little. By this time next year, I think he might be able to do it all himself.

Shame the local auto hobby shop ($4/hr lifts!) won't let you in without a driver's license, or I'd have him help me change the oil on my Porsche, too...

My father owns an auto shop in Colorado (not for Porsches although he did rebuild an air-cooled 911 a few years ago) so when I told him about the oil I use in my car he responded by asking, "Why are you using oil so thin on that car that generates so much heat in the engine?" But I explained to him the variocam and that Porsche recommends it so he left it with an "Okay..."

I love oil threads!
