Optical TDI

It's on the drivers side inbetween 2 coils. The picture is rotated to the left 90 degrees for some reason.

I believe its the vario cam plus solenoid

arent the solenoid at the ends of the engine? is there a sensor for the plus of the variocam. I know the variocam sensor is near the solenoid (at the end of the engine, not between plugs (middle of engine).

that thing has something to do with it.. I have seen them apart many times and it is defenantly related to the PLUS system rather as a monitor or an actuator for the oil passage -

VarioCamPlus actuator. having a VarioCam (3.4) engine I have never actually had one of these out and the shop manuals and PET don't have great diagrams. Not 100% sure but I am betting there is a o-ring in there somewhere.

It could be leaking from somewhere else and just showing up on that part.

I had the same problem with oil leaking from both sides of the engine. Here are pic's of the engine going through the clean up and resealing.
