Question Rain rain?

How many of us do not drive our cars in the rain?

Post on wiper blades made me realize, I have no idea what my wipers look like because I've not used them yet. Under the impression that water is bad for the underside of my car, or that it makes cleaning the car harder.

So, do you drive in the rain?

Not often but sometimes, it's just a car. Won't melt and it's fun to drive in the rain.

All the time. It's a car and it's meant to be driven.

Every chance I get. It's a wonderful all weather car.

LOL! I live in Houston. I'm not sure how to avoid driving in the rain. I'm not sure I would want to. It's a car. A very expensive, well engineered car.

A little water won't hurt it.

Pacific Northwest --- it would be pretty hard to avoid rain. The INWR winery tour had a nice drive through a thunderstorm -- wipers on high, just trying to follow the tail lights of the car in front of me. That's 60+ Porsches all in the rain right there.

Don't be a garage queen. Take it out. The car handles incredibly well in the wet - assuming your tires are in good shape. You'll be amazed how it sticks and sticks despite the massive spray coming off the back end.

I drive in the rain, just water. It is a pain to wash it all the time but it is fun to drive.

I am with you. I am very particular about rainy conditions. If I were to sell it, I could almost say the car was babied and "never driven in the rain"

It helps to keep it in pristine shape and prevent any damage to the delicate paint...

...which may be caused by track tires slipping in turn 1, sending the car against the Armco guardrail... I only drive (track) it in dry conditions.

Seriously, take it out on the street rain or shine.

Car was from the driest city in the US, Las Vegas and now in the 8th driest. Hardly ever rains here but I make a point not to drive it in the wet. I also make a point not to park for long periods in full sun or under trees. My nearly 8 yo car still looks brand new underneath and I'd like to keep it that way.

I have a Jeep for that.

I drive my car in any weather, rain or sun. I try to avoid hail storms. I don't drive it in the winter, primarily due to my encounter with snow plows, semi trailer trucks, etc in a former (porsche) life. My car is a DD, not a garage queen. Its low miles just mean that I can drive it for longer.

My question to you is this, "do you have as much fun driving anything else? If not, why deny yourself? Who are you saving the car for - the next owner? How silly."

+1! At the end of the day it is a depreciable asset. There is nothing you can do to stop it from depreciating. Not driving it may get you an additional 2 or 3 grand when you sell it, but think of all the fun you missed.

Mine isn't a DD, but I drive it every chance I get. Rain or shine.
