Another Hood Crest fail... Which crest should I pick?

Same here..2000 C4 with a gold badge. I like the look of the gold badge on Black.
My badge is all snugged up now...it was just a few turns with a nut driver.
Getting the badge to sit in side the gasket is a whole other story. It is way small and needs stretched. Perhaps mine has become brittle with age? I tried Ferdinand's screw driver oil trick but it did not prove to easy. I foresee a big scratch in the hood of my car so I aborted. I also tired heating the gasket up and that helped give it some elasticity but it cooled before I could finish. I think I am going to perform the operation on an old piece of scrap wood with holes drilled in it. Any one else have any luck or have any other tricks?

So I finally got my crest in the mail. It was a bear taking off the old studs (just kept spinning). Got the emblem back on so I'm good to go. Hopefully this one doesn't fly off....
