Please Help, Car Won't Start
Ok, here is what I have. new to me 2002 C4s about 2 weeks ago. while installing a becker ipod adapter to the radio (not sure if it's related), the "airbag failure" light came on in the information center. Now, the car won't start. I've tried disconnecting negative battery terminal but no luck. airbag light is still on after reconnecting. I hear what I think is the fuel pump kick on when i turn the key but still get nothing. please advice. I am to go on road trip tomorrow in it but it's not looking good right now so any help would be great. thanks in advance.

I do find the humor but still frustrating. No, car didn't run after ipod thingy. could I have done something electronically to the radio, which works now just fine btw, to hurt the airbag sensor. I do have fuel, voltage shows just over 12 when key is turned on. I've tried jumping the car with a battery box. Seems like I have done something serious but not sure what it could have been. I've disconnected battery, both terminals and allowed it to sit, upon hooking back up I still get airbag failure light and no crank of the engine. Just feel like a dumb *** that I know I did something but not sure what. Oh well. 2 hour tow to the nearest dealership and I'm sure lots of $$$$ will fix it.

Did you disconnect the battery before you starting the install? Have you checked your fuses? Does it turn over? Were there any sparks from the wires when you attached the ipod thing? Maybe you shorted something? Maybe check the ground strap? Might not be related at all. Don't think I offered any help just more questions.

no sparks with ipod install but the airbag light did come on during so I stopped install and returned everything to stock. it doesn't turn over. feels like I shorted something, which fuses to check? can i just start pulling them to see if any are blown? ground strap?? where is this and what is this. electrical in car works fine now, including radio, not the ipod thingy as I disconnected when all this happened. key works, remote, windows. I know it has to be electrical but not sure where to start. I appreciate the help.

my guess is it is the imoliblzer and somehow messing with the radio you triggered the alarm to imobilze the car....
try and close the car and lock it up with the key, then unlock with key.. also try the same using the remote. Fuses are in the panel by your left foot... good place to look as well

Ok, total freak out moment is over. This is why there are places like this. You guys are better than my wife who kept saying, "what do you mean you broke it, well fix it".
I had blown fuse in row E position 1, which is a lot of stuff including instrument, radio, etc. 7.5 fuse replaced and all is well.
Wow, where do I send tips to. I don't freak out often but when it comes to my life long 911 Widebody that I've had for a whole 14 days apparently I freak out.
Thanks so much one and all.

That brought a smile....glad this was a simple fix. It is easy to get freaked out. Don't sweat it. These cars are fairly simple to figure problems out with. AND RL is the best place to be!
