Default Tire Pressure, C4S, minimal wear street use...

What do you guys think of my current set-up(Stock rims/Sumi tires):

Front 38
Rear 42

I decided not to go with the Porsche recommended pressure due to the poor street conditions in my city!!

I am also thinking this will slightly reduce the rear tire wear...

Anyone running a similar set-up? Or does anyone have a better recommendation?

Thanks,

Alin

You're not that far off the Porsche tire pressures for N spec tires (36f, 44r) on a 996C4S. But the Sumis aren't N spec tires so their sidewall construction/strength might be different than on approved tires. I'd be careful of trying to soften the ride by lowering pressure since your rims will take a beating. The 11" rears can get bent pretty easily and if not repairable, they are more expensive to replace than tires.

What would be more appropriate for the Sumi's?

Agreed.

Nice looking 4S. Love the color.

I run 36 Front and 42 rear on my C4S....but I'm running Hankooks.

For long straight highway trips, I pump the rears up to 44.

for autoX, I run 37.5 F (hot) and 42.5 R (hot)

No idea really, but as I said, you're pretty close to stock pressure anyway. As far as wear is concerned, with stock pressures and alignment specs, I haven't seen any unusual wear on my tires.

Im running 36 and 40 but on Kumho ecstas. Absolutley no wear on the front tire and marginal on rear. Local roads and I95 are rough in Miami. If your pressures work well on your roads I wouldnt bother adjusting.

I think I'm going to stick to my F38 and R42 set-up.

Hardback - that C4S looks awesome! Love the way it looks so low due to the turn and the painted moulding! Is it lowered or stock set-up?

According to the last bulletin for 996, rear pressure on 18" is actually 43. I stand corrected.

Thanks.... I painted all the lowers to bring the cars appearance lower to the ground. Looks waaaay better in my opinion. Im on stock suspension, for now. Like I said above, this is my daily and as much id like to lower her Im afraid the roads are too rough. That picture was taken while the suspension was compressed.... looks good eh?

Zookie I think i'm going to go with 32F and 36R also.

F#%@ that! These **** roads here are killing my enjoyment for driving the car.

So many bumps I'm actually getting very annoyed. Ottawa roads are pure ****! I'll wreck my suspension with my current air pressure. Before I leave the parking lot today, I'll be lowering all the tires.

What made me change my mind is this little annoying creak in the front left suspension that just started after I raised my air pressure!!! Hmmm...

Before I get to my house I have a road rippled with about 8 annoying bumps that you cannot avoid. I slow down so much people behind me are like wtf...

Don't make me mayor, cause I'd spend ALL the money on roads!
