Take the pictures of the modification to a good welder in your area. Ask him if they can weld stainless steel and do a modification like the picture.

Or buy a set of used mufflers from someone here in the states for ~$250 USD.
Then have them shipped to Fister for the mod.
Have Fister ship modified mufflers to you.
That way you will have your original mufflers and the "new" fister mufflers and save a couple hundred $$.

Looks like someone in Germany is doing the same mod. Would that be easier for you?

I'm just outside of New York City and have a set of 3.4 mufflers with under 40k miles on them. I was going to hold on to them, but I'll sell them for $150 if you want to have your cousin pick them up. I believe that the 3.4 and 3.6 cans are interchangeable and Darin now does the same mod regardless of the type.

SS, since you're in Europe you may want to check with Gert of Carnewal
http://www.carnewal-europe.com/main.htm
GoTo Exhaust -> P96 -> RSR Exhaust

He provides both an exchange service or a set of new ones, Great sound!
Be sure to check out the soundclips.

The 3.4 and 3.6 mufflers will both fit on the 3.4L engine, but they are not identical on the inside. The 3.6 mufflers are preferred for the "PSE" type of modification that uses a 2.25" pipe (better sound).
I believe either muffler works for the "Type 1" hack that bypasses the inlet to the outlet with a small pipe.

I also live in the NYC area and have a stock set of 3.6 mufflers I would be willing to part with. PM if you are interested.

FisterD now does the same mod regardless if it's a 3.4 or 3.6.

Check out the Thread "Fister D Exhaust Installed - Best Mod" here in the 996 forum. (I couldn't figure out how to get the link)

D. Fister says:

"This is the mod I do on almost all 996/997s. I initially called it "Stage II" because I did offer a quiter mod initially. The Stage II is now the Fister mod, so all the reviews and videos you see of "Fister" mufflers are of this mod (formerly known as Fister Stage II.)"
