I would take it for free if I had somewhere to keep it. I only paid $1250 for mine and I drove it off, so $700 for that one is ridiculous. I even only sold mine for $3500 after EXTENSIVE dough and hard work was put into it for 3 years.

They are awesome cars, but plenty of them need to go to the crusher, and do, every day. Sometimes they go to dismantlers and the parts are saved if it makes you feel better.

If you really want a 944 go ahead and get a nice NA for $3k or a nicer S2 or turbo for $8k.

I agree with Frank on the hybrids. I would love to build one with a 951 donor car. I have always loved Tigers...the 951 hybrid might even be more fun than a Tiger.

There is at least one that shows up at the NJ C&C in Chatham sometimes.
He had the hood up and I was standing there looking at it thinking that 928 does not look right somehow, when I realized it was a 944 with a Chevy engine. It really looked like a factory installation.

C'mon guys. Don't any of you save the rough ones simply because if you don't no one else will. For the past 30 years I've restored more unsavables than I care to remember (see avatar) and I have the burns, scars, broken bones, stiff joints and empty bank accounts to prove it.

I was with you until you said 'automatic.' That old three speed is a dog and the rebuilt manual tranny would double your cost immediately - to say nothing of the interior/shifter/console parts you would need. A bridge too far.

I love 944s and want to see them saved. But they are true Porsches when it comes to parts. Not cheap.
