If you keep your engine clean, you can raise the rear of the car by lifting from here:

I have been lifting 996/997s from this point for over 10 years without problems.

My only caveat is that if your rear motor mounts have over 60K miles on them, they are getting weak and will be failing sometime in the next 60K miles. If you car has greater than 60K miles there is a chance that they may rupture during the lifting operation. This is good as the mount was going to rupture anyway, so this will be the perfect opportunity to replace your mounts.

Thanks for the compliments, Here is the kitchen, it is pretty clean... but for some reason the Boss won't let me cure my powder paint pieces in her oven!

The Orient Express is almost 10 years old too, but changing out the rear motor mounts is a piece of cake, all you have to do is to support the engine with the jack (like the picture shows) then remove 2 bolts holding the motor mount to the chassis, and one bolt holding the motor mount to the rear engine carrier, lift out the old mount, and drop in the new one, and refasten the bolts. It takes about 30 minutes to do both mounts, and if your car still has the original mounts and more than 60K miles, it is something that should be on your maintenance list.

Let me add that the 996 TT mounts are stronger/beefier and cost the same. I've had them in my race 996 for 1.5 years now without issue....

Nice. But why are there long handles on your cabinets? Alternately, why do you camouflage your fridge?

I'm sure that was a joke, but just in case someone stumbles on to this and doesn't realize it, DO NOT use the center of the oil pan as a jacking point!

So they match the handles on the fridge, and if you have your hands full, the big handles are easier to pull with your free pinkies.

and +1 on don't use the bottom of the sump as a jack point. You will regret it big time!
