Copper - I bought a set of used cans from a fellow Rennlister and sent them to Darin Fister. I did this for the reason you stated - what if I don't like the sound? Here is some advice from someone who made a few costly mistakes in this area:

If you decide to buy another set for the modification, have the seller ship them directly to Darin. I had mine shipped to me and then sent them to Darin. That was $60 wasted.

Darin will send you a modified pair and charge you a core deposit. You will get that money back when you send him your old mufflers. This way your car won't be idle while you're waiting for them to come in and you won't have to buy another set.

You will love the sound and won't be putting your old mufflers back on.

I have my old unmodded set and haven't decided if I'm going to sell them or hold onto them.

The only reason I can think one would not like an exhaust mod would be because it either drones or it's too loud....or too quiet. Fisters have no drone at all anywhere. With just the modified mufflers, it's pretty darn close to perfect soundwise...I just had to have it a little more louder so I added 200 cell cats and I can confidently say that it sounds darn good and have not plans to switch.

Did the cat upgrade make it noticeably louder? Amy drone? I've been considering going to Fabspeed cats to compliment my Fister mufflers.

Copper--if you're really worried, link up with someone in the Houston area who's running the Fisters in their 911 and listen for yourself. Then make your buying decision.

Having said that, based on the huge number of positive posts on every P-car forum about the Fisters (and no negative ones that I've found), the likelihood of you being disappointed is very low. And, if you are, the $$ outlay is quite modest.

Good luck.

I took off my MKII and put on MKI. I have a friend who custom builds hot rods. Will do the mod on a Saturday. The MKI makes the Pcar sound like a 79 Pinto. Need to get this done ASAP. Will post pics when done.

You'll notice it...but it's not that big much of a difference...still no drone...I'm not sure if/how the fabspeeds x design will sound different than mine...as I have the old separate style cats...

sorry - late to the party

Copper - dont worry...as of yet I have never ever ever heard anyone say the FisterD's were anything but perfect. There may be the occational person who wants "more" but for a non-track build car they are perfect....

you want the MKII (aka 3.6 cans) they look pretty much exactly like the MKI's (3.4) but worth the effort to find them if you dont already have them... get the stage II.

once on it will be very nice, then go thru a covered parking or tunnel at WOT, or let someone drive your car and listen from the outside... its more sound than you think because its outside....not droning in your cabin causing hearing loss to you... jusy pedestrians

hope this helps

I had Fisters installed on my C4S last December. Dan sent me the cans after I paid and I sent mine after installation. I absolutely love the sound after my initial apprehension. No drone and after warmup; like stock until you put your foot in. At crusing speed, it is almost inaudible. I say "go for it".

No, please, don't keep it a secret!
Share it for others like me who also consider doing this mod!

Just had mine done yesterday by my exhaust guy. He used 2.25" pipe. It sounds great. Love it.
