I'm wondering what kind of tires everyone would recommend for a rainy winter? I live in Vancouver and we get very little snow but lots of rain in the winter. Temperatures range from -2C to 10C during the winter. If I wake up in the morning to snow, I have the option of walking to work and getting around on the train.
In Vancouver, I don't think dedicated winter tires would be needed. Would high performance winters be better? What about good all seasons for the winter then put the summers back in late spring?
The summers would be coming off at the end of September when the rain start. I wouldn't want to give up too much performance. People in Seattle would have the same kind of driving weather as we get in Vancouver.
I will second the Conti DWS - so you can take a drive up to Blackhome in the snow if you want. But if you neve want to drive in the snow then go with the Conti DW - which was my choice for Seattle rain. I have both on different P-cars.
I would opt for a Nokian N-rated winter tire. Giving you the safety and performance for what ever surprises comes your way. Its always a better idea sticking with N-rated tires for your P-car.
BTW, i have a friend selling a complete set of wheels and these tires he just took off his 9974S,
Carrera III wheels OE. Not sure if they fit your car...
