i put a deposit down today on a 1999 996 silver/black 6 speed coupe

i'm flying down to LA next week and am interested in a good shop for a PPI...also what is the fair cost these days for a PPI minus the leakdown test?

I purchased my 996 in Newport Beach area and used Gary at Factory Werks. The fee was $200. and was fairly detailed. Now I will note that Gary had worked on this car - in fact he installed the LNE IMS Bearing for the PO along with new hoses and some head work. I had one other PPI done on a 996 in Utah and that cost $300 with about the same information. I did not buy the other car due to the report. Though I have had some issues with the C4 these are not items that could have been discovered in a PPI. I had the car looked over again when I brought it home by my local Indy - Chris in Bellevue - and he said he knew Gary to be a good Wrench & the C4 was a good purchase.

PS: Have fun on the ride home - my wife & I had a great trip up through SFO - Red Woods - Crater Lake Etc.
