Default cracked my oil pan!

Wow , when it rains it pours. In addition to my leaking power steering (cause still undetermined) and my haunted windows...now I have a cracked oil pan that's leaking at a rate that wil prevent me using the car until I find a replacement.

I don't know what happened...it was fine this morning when I left for work (at least I'm pretty sure it was) and but when I went to go for lunch i found a massive pool of oil under the car.

I went to tighten the drain plug, it was pretty much tight and that's when I felt the roughness. A good look with a flashlight and yeah - I must have hit something because it's cracked.

So...anyone have a spare oil pan for me???

I won't even dignify this with a response.

A new oem sump plate is *only* $177 from pelican with a three day free delivery and that includes a tube of sealing goop so all in all not too painful.

I'm borrowing my mom's car for a couple of days.

The fancy baffles are actually a seperate piece that bolts to the sump plate. Of course I willl inspect my baffles when it's all apart but there's no room in the budget for an upgrade at the moment. The other option would be to install one of those deep oil sump spacer things....but given that I've managed to crack my sump already at the height it is now, I'm not in a big hurry to bring it down lower.

Hopefully this third piece of trouble will be the end of the series.

Sorry to hear of your troubles. I get all my stuff sent to The Letter Carrier in Point Roberts. If you don't know of them check them out. Saves time and $.

Three things in a row should be it. Then you'll be all ready for summer.

Hey Pat - I use TSB in Point Roberts. $3 per package. Works great and so far I've not had to pay duty or taxes at the border..

I'm down once a week now for gasoline too (I work on River Road). I use at least one tank a week and at $20 per tank that's over $1000 per year. Crazy times.

Wow rough landing some place. It pays to take the steep areas at an angle. I've got one place that leaves at least one wheel off the ground while I climb over the curbs drop.

Man - I've been going over the last few days in my head and I can not for the life of me recall any event that would have caused this.

I do kind of remember about three or four days ago driving over a raised manhole that is on a stretchof road that is undergoing maintenance. I usually remember to avoid it, but this day I was screwing with my phone or my radio or something and I drove over it.

That was a bit of a jolt, but it was a while back and I didn't run over it through the centre line, it's more offset like. The damage is dead centre, at the trailing edge of the casting that the drain plug screws in to.

It's moot anyway. Damage is done and I'm $200 poorer and forced to drive my mom's PT cruiser as punishment.

We have dozens of them... 75 bucks is what I'd take for one... Did you already spend 200 bucks on one?

Jasper, that's horrible!

It looks like your car is sitting in a giant pool of oil, like a couple of 55 gal drums spilled.

Just trying to cancel actually. Was going to buy a X51 plate, but I like your $75 deal better.

We'll see if my cancel goes through and go from there.

Thanks!

Hey Jasper - sorry to hear about your sump problem. The upside: an early oil change ...
