Welcome aboard! Pay no attention to the handful of air-heads that are just jealous because their cars are slower and more primitive than ours!

Beautiful car...enjoy it in good health with your daughter!

Your 996 version of the 911 must of been like you walking into a party they were having eating a big bowl of ice cream yum yumming it up while they are eating crackers for desert. I guess they'll have to upgrade to get a/c that works, cool running engine and other aspects ivangene can tell you first hand from his experience. I think the not driving the 911's during winter all started with guys not able to get heat out of there older 911's Anyway.......

Great looking car and enjoy the car. Best of enjoyments to your childhood dream daughter too.

Haha - air guys get pretty sensitive.

That said, I agree. You (we) do not have a 911, but having had both I can tell you that's not a bad thing.

Face it guys, 911s are air cooled and have torsion bars, and they're like a little dinky things with upright windshields. They don't have power steering and the smell like oil and/or exhaust and ......they're air cooled!

Our cars are are badged as Carreras, and all the part numbers start with 996. Only the marketing dweebs call them 911s, and for all the wrong reasons IMO.

But that's ok !

You my friend have a nice car - and as a guy who doesn't know the difference between a 911 and a 996, you will enjoy the 996 more...trust me.

I understand the hardship of watching a loved one going through chemo. I hope your daughter has a very long remission and that she doesn't have to experience this type of therapy again. Enjoy your new car, you deserve to treat yourself during this type of journey.

Just remember not all of use aircooled guys have low tech torsion bar heatless acless powersteeringless 911s.

Some of us have 964s and 993s, which are aircooled but have modern things like coil springs, AC that works, heat that works, power steering, power brakes, ABS, AWD, G50 transmission and FI system that doesn't cost five thousand dollars to maintain and power the of 911 Turbo without the brain damage.

Yeah nice car, good color, you will enjoy it, and agian hope your daughter stays well.

You guys can haze me :-) Your just being nice cause I told you about my daughter, but if there is hazing to be had, let it begin ! I am a big time newbie so I'm sure this is going to be painful. LOL

thanks for the warm welcome to the community. Looking forward to meeting some of you in the Bay Area some day as well. I love that owning this car seems to be much more than just owning a car, I had no idea there was this much passion until I found the board.

I will admit that the board is also scary, because this is where you hear some scary IMS stories, but its' good to understand what I'm getting myself into. I am considering a 3 year Fidelity warentee just for peace of mind while I take over ownership of the car. the previous owner kept it in mint condition, but I'm planning to actually drive her much more than she's used to.
