Default Horrific Porsche Crash

I've never seen a P car wrecked that bad, and to think is was just 10 minutes or less from home.

I've looked at that picture a few times and I don't really recognize anything in it. It's amazing that they are still alive...

Judging by the door panels I'd say a 993. I don't remember seeing any other 911 with panels like that. Plus it has airbags too so it's not an old one.

Heavily damaged cars are sometimes not easily recognizable because certain sections may have been cut away/cut off to facilitate the extraction of the occupant(s).

I agree with you that they're lucky to be alive.

The article attributes their survival from the crash/plunge to 'wearing seatbelts..."

Something tells me that if they had been in a different car - particularly a different convertible - the outcome would have been worse. Anybody want to plunge down a snowy ravine in a Sebring?

The SC/964/993-series cars were built like tanks. I saw a demo at dCAuto one time of how they cut an undamaged front clip from a otherwise wrecked Boxster. It took about 5 minutes with a Salzall. The owner told us it would take 20-30 minutes to do the same with a 993 or 964.

Ok... I thought that is the fan showing, but it is the flywheel end showing.... early 911 had that hose in a diagonal like that.... but it is a 993 engine facing the wrong way. How that engine got flipped 180deg... well the article say that it was a very technical rescue.

Ferd the intake is all wrong for anything new (aka 993/964)

motor looks like a 3.3 turbo from a 930.....its def older than 993 and even older than the 964's..I have seen one like this but cant put my finger on it....

http://www.turboswaps.com/turbo-engi...gine-european/

this is an 82 turbo = same fuel distribution system... not 964 or newer

the motor in the wrecked car is even older.... see the airbox is metal....
