As a note the PSS9/10's are not two way adjustable. The adjustment is only on the rebound (I believe, I know it is only one way). On some of the more expensive coilovers the adjustment is two way, compression and rebound.

@Country911. The M030, US or ROW, is not the stock touring suspension for these cars? Is it? I am missing something?

Correct the M030 (either US or RoW) is the upgrade for USA... As I understand it the M030 is standard RoW.... Just us lovely lazy assed americans need a softer, higher riding setup.... So, we don't spill our Java!

Yes. Sports suspension upgrade. I am not sure what Country911 is talking about.
I have not driven a RoW M030 equipped 996 but I have to say my US M030 is probably as tight as I would like for street driving. It's borderline harsh. I don't track however. Maybe one day.... Funny, I spilled my coffee the other day. While it was in the cup holder it spouted right out the sippy hole about 3 feet across the passenger seat.

The difference between USA M030 and ROW M030 is ride height, not firmness.

Higher ride is probably a good thing since my tax dollars are not doing sh$t about most of the roads around here!!

I keep the front (993) PS10s at setting #5 and the rears at #1 setting as the rears were at #5 setting and bone jarring ! Also, the supplied box stated PS9s.

Actually the lower ride height is not the only difference... The lower springs have a slightly higher spring rate which produces a firmer ride. PCA used to have a great article where the spring rates had been compared between the standard US, US M030 & RoW M030, but sense the new website came on line I have not been able too find it.

Thanks...

quote from article:
"Conclusions
Table 11 is a summary of our findings in comparing the 996 C2 6-speed coupe USA standard suspension to the USA (gray shaded area) and RoW (green shaded area) sport (M030) suspensions. In the subject car, the RoW sport suspension resulted in about 1cm lower ride height compared to USA cars. The stiffer sport stabilizer bars and springs provide for greater stiffness in the rear than in the front relative to the USA standard suspension and therefore bias vehicle dynamics away from understeer and more toward oversteer. The RoW M030 suspension "feels" stiffer than the USA sport because of earlier deployment of the front and rear bumpstops related to lower ride height as well as stiffer shock absorbers. We believe that the conversion to RoW sport suspension is a worthwhile though expensive upgrade if you want sportier handling than the available USA suspensions provide, don't mind a stiffer ride and can tolerate more scraping of the undercarriage associated with the lower ride height. We also do not recommend "mixing and matching" the various springs, shocks and bumpstops evaluated for this article since all of these parts have different design characteristics that work in concert together. "

No worries bro. On the 996 curve I am getting a C-, I suppose. I feel like a dumbass most of the time when I read the technical stuff on this site! I know just enough to get me in trouble! LOL.

I just really enjoy driving around in my 996 and learning about the idiosyncrasies on this site. It's a blast. From what I have seen this is bar none the best site for Porsche owners. Everybody is very helpful and very enthusiastic. Oh... and very opinionated!! Which I love.
