I really appreciate how quiet / comfortable my C2 can be on long drive but I wanted extra grunt for my joy rides. I was considering having a PSE installed with the switch & harness, but if it comes up to 6k$ I'll have to skip my turn.

I was ready to spend some extra over an after-market set, but not 6k$.

I don't think it is anywhere near 6k if you have the mufflers. I just bought the hose fittings and valve for less than $150. The harness is around $250 from Pelican and the switch is around $30. The total job should be doable in less than 2 hours. Plus you will need to get the dealer to activate the PSE mode if that is the route you go.
I am just going to wire an on-off switch to the crossover valve (vacuum valve).

what do you mean have the dealer activate the pse mode? something has to be programmed on the ecu? and if yes can we do it with the durametric software?

No need for programming when retrofitting the PSE on the 996.
It works with a relay.
