Starter Replacement Question
Sorry for this dumb question but...
I'm attempting to replace my starter. I've read the renntech DYI and have looked at several threads. I have the thottle body out and am looking at pictures and cannot see the starter. I feel like I'm missing the elephant in the room. Anyone have a pict w/TB out and can point me to starter?

I watched the tech r/r mine earlier this week. Its way the 'eff in there! Long extension with tape on the swivel socket joints so they hold their position better is the trick methinks.

I had these pics on other thread, but I think these will do better here
1. remove the battery cable -
2. remove airfilter box
3. rem. throtlebody
4. rem. t-pipe from intake manifold, loosen all the clamps and push the rubber parts so you can twist the t-pipe off. It took me couple of tryes before I got it out.
5. rem. +cable from starter
6. rem. starter, it took some long extension to get the left side bolt, but it can be done with out the alternator removal.
Just put it back to gether in opposite order.

To get at the lower left bolt I used a couple of 12" extensions and went in under the alternator. I actually bought a 24" extension but it was too long to maneuver in so I put the socket onto a 12", started it in, then added a second 12". Worked fine.

Well, she's done! Getting the starter in/out really wasn't that terrible, thanks to all the advice and pics here on RL.
She starts up fine, however the idle is a little rough. I think the tube going into the manifold (AOS vent tube?) came out on reinstallation. Could that cause the idle problem?
Manifold was a pain to reinstall! Had to come up with a combination of hose clamps on/off/pushed to the side. to get it to slide into place.

Don't forget the two little vaccum hose that goes on either side on the bottom of the T-tube behind the throttle body. They often come loose during install.

Robin,
I see one in the pic above (I'm assuming that's what I was calling the AOS vent on the right side bottom, about the diameter of a clothes hanger.). Where's the 2nd?

Thanks Robin!
Time to tear down to T-Tube and back first go-round. 2+ hours. Time to tear down to T-Tube second go round and connect vacuum tube I should have done the first time and back, less than 1 hour.
Time to bond with the 996, priceless (wifey's getten jealous).
RL is great
