Default engine bay water...

Hey this may be a stupid question. Everytime I wash my car and I open my engine bay lid, water pours into the engine bay. I know the water just drips down into the vents of the spoiler, is there a drain or something that could be clogged. I can't tell you how many time I've opened it up and been rained on...

I've noticed the same thing. Is it more one side than the other? There appears to be drain holes on both sides for when the lid is down. Maybe some compressed air could be sprayed in the holes to try clearing any possible blockage. It is kind of spooky to see more water than liked pouring out after lifting the lid.

A little water wont hurt the engine..... most if not all the electrical are sealed. But those damn coil packs.... they suck.

You would think Porsche would have designed that a little better.... Obviously i haven't been washing the car lately but I saw a picture of a 996 turbo and they had a plastic shroud surrounding the fan, i bet it keeps the water out...

its dry in there....maybe Porsche did its job and you just have to stop using that hose to wash your car

I think what he is talking about is how when opening the engine lid there is water held in the lid that drains out of hole from top of the lid on the left or right when closed that is the low side when it is open. My right side likes to hold a little water and take a pee down the right sided rim the hinge is on.

The airbox is designed with holes to allow water that goes down the air intake hole to drain out. So thats no problem.

I have noticed that also.
Also after a wash starting the car the voltage needle swings back and forth for a few seconds.
Maybe it gets some water in the alternator.
I always drain that rear lid after a wash so it won't sit there for a week or so.

That plastic shroud i posted above could stop the water from pouring on the engine.. too bad its for the TT. The only way to drain the water out is to pour it all over the engine.. haha.
