OK.... so I think I will install it.... but its to efin cold in the garage. I think the prob with the B&M is the throw, it may be to short to be smooth. Going from 2-3 takes precision, which I lack at times.
Also agree about the 997 boards.... what is up with those guys.

I have to admit certain things about the 996 are very appealing - I think owning several cars helps your overall Porsche experience. I am loving the 3.2 for now but always thinking...I have said many times "So many Porsche's, so little money"
Hope I didnt bust you too hard, just having fun. I like the 996 board because most people are very easy going and its fun!
(PS - Marc has too many shifters )

Mark,
I've had various SCUs - 996, 6GT3, BM, and 997.1 GT3 SCU. On the track, only the GT3 units worked well. The BM was not "perfect" between horizontal gates, especially 3-2 and 5-4. But vertical was no issue. I had no issue with the 6GT3 unit until one of the shifter linkages broke. I replaced it with the 7GT3 and all is right with the world.
For street, the only one I didn't like was stock, as it was a bit long.
doh! Track season already opened for us! We were just out this weekend! mid 60s. I mean, not to rub it in or anything. (well maybe a little).

I had the B&M shifter I replaced it with the 997 shifter. The BM was too harsh for me. If anyone is interested I have the B&M in the old 996 carrier and would sell it. PM if you are interested.

If the shifter you bought is on the tower (black base) then just remove the B&M and the tower and install the 997 shifter. Don't re-install the center console and take it for a test drive. If you like it, replace the console. If not, re-install the B&M shifter.

shifters
What was the verdict on the shifters? Better than the B&M? Just got back into the fray had some personal issues to deal with but going to change from stock 01 c2 996. Thanks
