CEL Help P0444
My car's CEL came on today while driving in to work.
Scanned it when I got home and it showed P0444 - Canister Purge Valve Open Circuit.
I cleared the code and started the car, no CEL for now.
I'm planning on driving the car tomorrow to work and seeing if it stays off.
But had two questions:
1. Am I risking any kind of damage if the CEL comes back on (I'm assuming it'd be a P0444) again?
2. What the heck is a Canister Purge Valve Open Circuit? And should I just replace it?
Thanks!

Pretty sure it has to do with your pressure in your gas tank. The canister is located in the engine bay...I think. Loosen the gas cap and twist it tight gain (5 or 6 clicks). Ed^^^is on to something. Topping off the fuel could maybe cause this.

no risk IMO
have seen these canisters fail. There is a check valve IIRC inside that fails. Also the part use to be an entire assy and now can be bought as just the part - (going for limited info and memory) but IIR its inside the front wheel well area, a long plastic box thing...I have not watched the fix but know they have been replace/repaired enough that the techs are pretty fast at getting them in and out
If I were you I would drive it and see what happens over time, replace/repair after a second event (or 3rd)

no proof, just something I have seen, doenst mean that what is wrong with his car - i think the overfill is likely too... just adding info so he has it...
you know me, I dont actually get anything right... I just splatter it and pray something is close -
I use a shotgun for everything.... want some parts?

Folks, thanks for the feedback.
I NEVER top off my tank. First click and that's it.
Having said that I'm sure different gas pumps allow different levels of fill since some have different levels of gas delivery.
Drove the car today to work and no CEL.
Cross my fingers that it'll stay that way.
Thanks again!

By the way, here's a little addition to the story.
I'm sure everyone knows how a CEL can bug the heck out of you while you're waiting to scan it.
So I figured I'd call the dealership to see if they'd do it for free. Stupid me. I was quoted $135 and I'd have to wait till next week.
