Called Fidelity about warranty options - funny story
They don't sell direct, but only sell through dealers. The closet dealer that sells Fidelity to me was a Ford dealer. None of the 4 pcar dealers within 40 miles of me does.
So here's the funny part. I asked if I bought it from the Ford dealer, could I have it serviced at a pcar dealer. They said only if they sell them, but I could get it serviced at any Pep Boys! Wow what a good idea to get a pcar service at Pep Boys.
I subsequently called the local pcar dealer out of curiosity to see what they sell. Exclusionary type with no deductable through Warranty Solutions is $3,300 for 2yrs or $4,267 for 3 yrs. I currently have CPO coverage, but I'm getting prepared for the next decision. That $3,300 is better spent on a clutch, IMS bearing, AOS, etc. I

Wow, that seems pretty pricey. I got my Fidelity through the dealer and it was 5 years, 60,000 miles for $3,000 total. They even offered me a 10/100K for around $6,000.
It paid for itself in the first two visits. Now, every time I go in for a warranty repair, I'm on the plus side.

Wow!
So for $4200, you can rest assured that if your motor blows in the next 3 years you can have a used unknown mileage engine from a salvage yard installed in your car by a top grade, ASE certified Pep boys tech?............................Pass....

That sounds steep. I would spend the money on AOS, IMS and clutch also...
I just picked up an 09 CPO GL 320 and bought a 2 year warranty so I have a total 7 yr and 100K mile protection. The two year warranty is retailing $2500+ but was able to get 10% off that price. I think the MB is going to need more work than my Pcar because the pcar has been trouble free for the past 30K miles. My MB just had a blower go bad at 23K miles and while reviewing the past history of these cars on MB forums, I think the warranty is a good bet for me.

I have fidelity. That's right. They have the right to replace your blown motor with a used engine from salvage as long as it is equal or less miles than the blown motor.

when I bought my 2003 C2 with 27k miles last year, I did pay $2800 for a 2 year fidelity plan at park place porsche in Dallas. 3 years was like $3500. It is pricey but with the forum stories, I wanted the peace of mind.
Preventive maintenance is a good bet, but still another bet.

I would rather toss the $4,200 at a CPO 997 or making the 996 better.
