behind the rear seats, pull up on the removable carpet. It is under the aluminum cover on the left side.

They are all on the right side on coupes (996, 996TT, 996 GT3, 996GT2).

Left side if you are looking into the back. But the technical side is the right side (aka passenger).

You have to open the top part way, take off the cables at the bottom of the rear of the top(I have done this on a soft rear window not on a glass rear window so be careful of the window)' raise the window section and remove the carpet like liner that is the bottom of the top storage area (there are three or four posh in/friction pins under the cloth roll bar area. Once this is done you will see the DME attached to the roll bar frame on the passenger side and the convertible top control on the drivers side.

Great info. Coupes are easier to get to

Anyone know what happens if you put the wrong part number DME in a car? Will it run bad or just not at all?
