On my first AX, a well meaning experienced driver ran the course with me the first time. Afterwards he told me that as I got into the last turn, I should hit the brakes real hard. I did just that, did a clean 180, and rolled through the timing lights BACKWARDS. It was my fastest time of the day!!! Unfortunately, no one caught it on video. (but this is getting a bit far afield) But I like this pic catching some air. MJ, you've got nothing on Kermit!!!!

Here are some pix of my 996 - after the bra installation. I tried to catch the light to show the edge of the bra on the fender, but it's hard enough to see with your naked eye. The camera just doesn't show that level of resolution and clarity.

BKJ,

Nope, not Kermit. That's a Sporto S, mine was a 5 speed E. His Metallic Green, mine Viper Green. But it looks like a pretty car. I have to say, as much as I miss driving Kermit - - driving my 996 on a daily basis has eased my "pain" dramatically .

There's a whole different world between driving a garage queen to the latest Concours every month during the summer, and taking the 996 to the grocery store, to work, to pick up the Gkids, etc, etc on a several times a day basis.

I liked Kermit - but this is a whole new experience, a great one!!!!

ahh, I can see a slight color difference now.
I can understand the enjoyment with the differences in driving sometimes and worrying.. and driving everywhere and having fun. Cheers! :-)

Hey Sneaky Pete, I think you should PM me that pic and I'll let you know if it is or isn't Rennlist safe. If it's Rennlist safe then you can post it, if not, then you can send me any other pics like it and I'll make sure that they don't get posted on here...

Default Clear Bra (Good or Bad)

I have been installing ppf (paint protection film) for over 10 years now and absolutely stand by it. Not just as an installer but as a car enthusiast myself. If the install is done correctly (99% perfect or better) then the outcome is by far worth the money. I have seen it all in this line of work so I can absolutely agree when you see a bad install with a clear bra you dont want to invest your own money to make your car look like crap. Its meant to protect the beauty of the car, not make it look bad. Doing the entire hood and fenders is very popular especially on the track cars. I have done thousands of installs from 5 minute jobs to 5 day jobs. Some people have an issue with the line across the hood but this is always better then a hundred rock chips on your front end. This is where the full hood and fenders come in to play. I have several pictures with full hoods and quarter hoods. I have hundreds if anyone has questions. This is a very large investment (next to your house) and should be protected. The resale value pays for itself years after the install.

Thanks for your input. I can't imagine that I would ever want to cover my entire car with film, but what's your feeling on a full hood versus front 1/3 of the hood. I didn't have them do the whole hood when I was in the shop yesterday, but now I'm thinking that maybe I should have. In the cars that I've had, it seemed that most of rock chips were on the front bumper, or at the very front of the hood. But I also had a couple of good chips out of the top 1/3 of the front pillar to the side of the windshield. Seeing chips like that make you want to plasticize the entire car.

What's your view of the 1/3 hood vs the full hood treatment?

Someone help me. Because I am not getting this bra thing.

My thoughts.. you can get the bumpers painted for about 700, the pair is you take them off the car and to the body shop.

This bra.. can get nicked? No? and when it does, you have to have a bodyshop replace it anyway? No? plus the cost of installation. And if it does it a scar, it too will fill with polish, wax and show up just like a nic in the paint and you cant put any touch up on it? no?

Some one help me.. Cause Im not feeling the love for the bras

Dont flame me,, Educate me please
