Well maybe it's because I'm coming from driving a Honda that I put $35 in for TWO weeks of driving!

LOL - I came from a 94' Suburban that took $160 to fill ONE TANK, this is easy

(note 94 Suburban's have a stock 42 gal tank and when gas hit $4+ the truck was worth twice as much full as empty!)

Buy the best gas you can - in Bellevue the Premium pumps get used more so I use them and stay clear of pumps out of the area (Auburn - Tacoma... ect where no ones buys premium) I think my 86 gets in the high teens for a commute car - something in the range of 330 miles/tank about 19 gal

What are your P cars? More than one?

My '82 911SC didn't go through gas like this 996.

I'll probably run the MPG by Chris's just to see what he thinks. I mean I know that a 300HP car aint gonna be fuel efficient, but ....

I fill up with highest octane at the Chevron near Microsoft where everyone drives Aston Martins, so I should be OK. :P

Cool. So why did you go old skool?

I was this >< close to buying a 1990, but a car that age is considered a "classic" and harder to finance and insure. I also thought it might be prone to needing more maintenance?

evolutionary process of being an owner I guess.

When I bought the 996 I planned to keep it a year, sell and get an older car for a year, sell and get a newer car...

that now has changed to "hmmmmm maybe I'll keep this and if the chance comes along to get an even older one, jump on that" - I drove a couple 997's including a PDK C4 Sport Chrono PLUS and decided I might never be old enouogh to drive one of those

Great looking car, nice Christmas gift!

Around town I usually get 18-19MPG with a 6 speed.

Hi Ultraman -

You're local too eh?

Yeah Bradley's detail is a great place. I'm good friends with one of the guys over at RNR Autobody, and he referred me to Bradley. Good crew over there. They do a through job and you don't have to worry about them burning through your paint.

It's $145 for a three step exterior, and $100 for just polish and wax. So they aren't cheap, but you get peace of mind with them that adds value IMO.

Thanks it is a clean car for sure.

If I drive like an old woman I get the sorts of MPGs you report, but I'm averaging 13-14 MPG with "spirited" driving. What is your driving style when getting 18-19 MPG? Any heavy acceleration in there?

Say, are there any "find that interior rattle and fix it" experts in WA? I don't get the impression that Chris's is really into dealing with this sort of request. I've got 3 or 4 interior rattles that are bugging me.
I just finished taking my entire console apart to find the source of a bad rattle... couldnt find anything...then i looked under the pass seat when vacuuming.. bingo..my missing calculator! there is no carpet under them and anything that falls down there rattles like hell. They also get a notorious sunroof rattle that you can search for a fix on.
Chris's is more of your drivetrain go to shop.

Doh!

Yeah, Chris's is a great drivetrain shop, but I need a lead on a shop that can track down and fix rattles. Know of any?
