Default What feeds the PSM system?

Steering Angle sensor (where is that?)
ABS (at the wheel)
Throttle Position (ECU probably in addition to the location at the pedal)

The reason I ask is because the PSM is kicking in and it's taken me a bit to figure out the circumstances. Seems the PSM only activates (specifically driver's side front wheel) on left hand sweepers. Does not activate on right hand sweepers.

In fact, I took my normal troubleshooting sweeper the other day and was able to turn off the PSM while it was activating and there was no slip, so it's definitely not the tires as the car tracked with predictability.

Then, my question is what component is at fault? Steering sensor? ABS ring? I'm stumped. Obviously, there is no code being thrown.

Any ideas?

I think most go with non correct sized tires to get problems. All I can think is dirty ABS cogs or sensors easily cleaned or different tire pressures maybe throwing something off in the calculations. That or the alignment is strange to the system. Any durametric? I also think there is a way to set the wheel centered reading for the system. I'm sure the Porsche dealer would have the cure of alignment and diagnostics of ABS and all.

I'd just brush the gear looking cogs and sensors if thats what porsches look like and have the alignment checked. I'd think at the dealer the center setting for the wheel would be set during alignment for you.

Good luck.

My tires are stock sized, but I have thought of dirty ABS ring on the wheel. However, it's odd that the PSM would only kick on turning one way, and that's why I was thinking of the steering position sensor instead of the ABS.

I have not had the problem on the Porsche. But when my BMW RT motorcycle ABS was acting erratically I found a piece of Ferris metal wire wrapped around it. That symptom was the ABS warning light would come on and then indicate NO ABS available during a ride. The gap had to be reset so I am not sure if it was the wire itself or that it had pushed the sensor away.

I was thnking if the ABS sensor on one side is off/dirty it might be feeding different revolutions than are actually present hence one way gets PSM treatment and the other not.

Good luck.

I would start by disconnecting the battery for 10-15 minutes to force a re-calibration of the PSM sensors, both the stearing wheel, yaw, and accelerometer sensors.

Driver error feeds PSM.

This might be covered in the book of revelation. The one with the eagle driving on a bear of a road.

Steering angle sensor is on the steering column in most vehicles. Any chance you are lifting the LF wheel on your left hand sweeper?

+1.... I can kick on PSM consistently on sweeping uneven road.

I'm not loading the car all that much with amount of steering input, nor taking the sweeper that fast/abruptly. At first I chalked it up to newer rear tires, but not anymore.

I take this sweeper at least twice a day, so i'm pretty familiar with the limits that this sweeper can be taken at. There is an elevation downhill towards the exit of the sweeper but by that time, the car is pretty straight and I've never had this issue before.
